As I take in the fact that we will never have a new LCD soundsystem song to listen to I am forced to look back. To find the history of James Murphys most brilliant musical project. This song was the first song that made me learn to love that little hand drawn lightning blot logo of DFA Records.

I really like where the LA scene is headed right now. It reminds me of the early days of Wax Trax. With heavy use of distorted drums and a strong marching feel. Steve Aoki and LA Riots are leaders in that scene, and Tai is not to be missed.

The first time I heard about James Curd was a short run record distributed by downtown161 back in the day under his Greens Keepers Moniker. A little Later he picked up a vocalist (Nick Mauer also a fantastic DJ) and, before splitting ways made some fantastic music. Im not sure if was his first record or not but it was early on in the career. That track still bangs and gets thrown into my sets every now and again. This is one of James' newer tunes and I like it alot. Nice rubbery bass with some very well mixed vocals.

Sorry to leave you folks out there high and dry for a week with no tunes but I was hard at work in the studio having one of those 'everything I experience I hear as music I want to make weeks'. Some of the tunes have to stay in the private stock for a while, so if you want to hear them come check out one of my shows (tipsy tuesday at jolly bobs is always a good place to hear some of my original stuff). But I do have one up for folks to check out on my soundcloud, so I thought I would share that here.
I should be back to work on the blog shortly.
